Ideals CreativesAfter writing in this blog for more than six months, I discovered that there are a lot of Filipino social entrepreneurs! They are increasingly becoming aware of their power to help change the world. I tend to look down on “noisy advocacy” where all that people do is to point out the wrongs in the society. But if such advocacy is coupled with actual projects and people empowerment programs, then I’d offer a nod of approval and cheer of encouragement, maybe even help out a bit in their advocacy.

You Don’t have to be Alone in Your Social Entrepreneurship Project.

Anyway, I have come across another Filipino Social Entrepreneurship project. This time, the project is not sponsored by a single individual. Rather, this is a team project called Ideals Creative! This organization was spearheaded by Daniel Gabriel Matutina, Dang Sering, Bernise De Leon, and Marielle Nadal.

Most of these folks came from the University of the Philippines – Diliman. They are bound together by creativity and a desire to make a difference in the lives of people through creative design.

Begin with a “What If…”

This group of friends started doing some advocacy campaigns in one of their editorial class back in college. They thought “wouldn’t it be great if we put up a design agency that will specifically cater to the needs of NGOs?”

At first, it was just wishful thinking—a project that they can pursue when they already felt a degree of success in their careers and personal lives. But as it happened, they came across a funding opportunity in 2006 and as such, Ideals Creatives was born!

Tell stories, good stories, to the world.

The fellows who started Ideals Creatives love stories, the outdoors, and they are interested in looking for creative ways to help other people. They used their passion to help NGOs by providing communication strategies, design, branding and audio-visual materials for social entrepreneurship projects and social businesses. Through their help, NGOs and other social entrepreneurs can generate buzz and attract more people to help them.

Involve others!

Ideals Creatives don’t just do the work by themselves, they encourage like-minded individuals to become interns so that other people, too, will know what it is like to work in a highly creative environment while at the same time, helping change the world!

Ideals Creatives presents a great business model. It does not directly help the impoverished or the needy, but they help the organizations who do just that. While the effort is indirect, any help that social entrepreneurs could get can contribute to their success! Kudos to Filipino social entrepreneurs, you’re giving pride to the Filipino nation!
